Welcome to SDSU's Homeland Security Program website, the official site of SDSU's Center for Homeland Security. We're extremely proud of our accomplishments, stemming from our groundbreaking efforts as cofounder of the Regional Network for Homeland Security (RNHS) in April of 2002. Since that event, SDSU has grown to be a leading university in critical Homeland Security support efforts, regionally and nationally. These accomplishments include educational firsts, meaningful community engagement projects, and innovative applied research in the Homeland Security environment. Please investigate our successes included throughout the site.
We have become unique in our educational endeavors:
Community engagement and outreach brings student
and community together
Innovation in working with public and private
sector HS technology partners
- Research - With National Programs such as
joint DHS and DTRA BioNet
pilot project, and our NASA
REASoN project
- Technology Demonstration - in conjunction
with local law enforcement and first responders
- Exercises - Based on real-life events such
as SuperBowl XXXVII (ShadowBowl)
and large scale exercise such as those of the Metropolitan Medical
Strike Team
- Humanitarian Support - Large-scale imagery
processing and presentation support for Desert Storm, Tsunami
relief for Sumatra, National
Hurricane relief support for Katrina and Rita and continuing
imaging
and GIS support for toxicity and medical response to Katrina
and Rita with UCSD and NIEHS
SDSU is performing an active and valuable role
in formulating processes, products and procedures that lend themselves
to Homeland Security, as you will see in the links to SDSU departmental
projects and related links. We welcome you to the website and openly
solicit new ideas to support and participate in our homeland security
efforts.
